Whitney McBride is a Costume Designer with a love of socially responsible work, but also thrives on the fantastical. Growing up in Upstate New York, Whitney followed her odd idea of being a Costume Design major to DePaul University here in Chicago. She graduated last June, and has been working around town since.
Whitney's most recent design projects include Desdemona: A Play About A Handkerchief with The Mill Theatre and Yes, This Really Happened To Me with Theatre Seven. She has also worked with The Side Project, Around the Coyote and the Goodman-Yollocalli Workshop. At DePaul, Whitney designed Kosi Dasa, directed by Shepsu Aakhu, References to Salvador Dali Make Me Hot and The Swan, both directed by Mark Fleischer. Whitney also works as a milliner and costume crafts artisan, having interned with Martin Izquierdo Studio and Arnold Levine Millinery in New York City last summer.
Whitney lives in the Ukrainian Village in Chicago with her best friend and several houseplants. She enjoys farmer's markets, riding her bike and making hats. |
