Mr. Steberl was born in Wisconsin and spent his childhood summers there with his grandparents and twin sister. His interest in design came from a childhood far more interested in Barbie’s furniture and clothing than the woman’s many adventures as both a doctor and waitress. He went on to study Art and Acting and his equal interest in both led him to costume design. He’s knee deep now and enjoying every minute of it.
Mr. Steberl received his education in Columbia College Chicago’s Theatrical Design Program. Where he designed three realized projects a semester.
Recently Mr. Steberl has broken out into the real world, his Chicago credits include The Care Taker directed by Hans Fleishman and Beggars in the House of Plenty directed by Kevin Fox (Mary-Archie) Skin directed by Mary Patchell and Refuge directed by Susan Padveen (Shabam Productions) Romeo and Juliet directed by Sheldon Patikin (Columbia College) Polaroid Stories directed by Rose Kruger (Alrosa) and Sweet Confinement with Anna Bahow (Sinnerman). Other costume design credits include Endgame, Marisol, Shakespeare’s Hot Mess, Night of the Iguana. Mr. Steberl is currently working as the resident designer for Columbia College’s Spectacle Fortuna. |
