Joseph C. Vallez was hired as executive director and officially began his new position on October 23, 2000.
Previously he served as Area Manager in the Southwest Region of the Chicago Park District. He began his career with the Chicago Park District in 1985, and from there served as Superintendent of Recreation and Director of Parks and Recreation at the Chicago Ridge Park District.
Mr. Vallez has won several awards including the American G.I. Forum Community Service Award in 1995 and the Community Collaboration Award from the Chicago Park District in 1992.
Mr. Vallez has presented on several topics at professional conferences and served as a panelist on the Governors Council for Gang Prevention.
