CLASSES: Take a class with one of our playwrights-in-residence. Writing a Play
Wednesdays + 6:30 – 9:30 PM
February 6 – March 19, 2008
$105 for Berwyn residents
$125 non-residents
Description: Ever wanted to write a play? Or want to brush up and advance your playwriting skills? This class is designed for both beginners and those with experience who wish to write for theater and share their work in a supportive, yet challenging environment. Through fun writing exercises, at-home assignments, and in-class readings, you will learn the essentials of good playwriting, including character development, plot structure, dialogue, and dramatic conflict. The class will culminate in readings of your work performed by professional actors! Taught by 16th Street Theater’s playwright-in-residence Will Dunne.
Special Notes: Participants will be invited to first rehearsal of Will Dunne’s play The Ascension of Carlotta on Monday, March 10 at 7:00pm. Register at North Berwyn Park District |

APPRENTICESHIPS: For those serious about theater-making who are able to commit to an intense schedule, 16th Street Theater is looking for highly motivated apprentices in acting, directing, playwriting, stage management, technical theater and design to participate in rehearsals for its production of The Ascension of Carlotta. Days and times vary, but mostly involve evenings and weekends. Those interested in learning hands-on theater skills in a professional setting should request an appointment for an interview with 16th Street Theater’s Artistic Director Ann Filmer by calling or stopping by the NBPD Community Center.
